Certificate Description

There are many great ideas about how to solve problems, but it takes a special set of skills to determine which ideas can become inventions and which of those inventions are commercially viable.

In this certificate program, you will explore strategies to help gauge the market for an invention. To gain practice in identifying the best intellectual property or bioproperty strategies for your needs, you’ll use several custom tools to help clearly define uniqueness, competitiveness, and viability. As you prepare for the next steps in the process, these tools will also support you in drafting a summary to describe the invention to key stakeholders, exploring different commercialization pathways for inventions, and mastering best practices for navigating each pathway. Finally, you’ll have the opportunity to examine recommendations for creating an invention management system for your team and for how to foster an invention management mindset. By the end of this program, you will have developed insight into processes to better create and execute the management of commercially viable inventions.

The courses in this certificate program are required to be completed in the order that they appear.
