Course Description

Projects are complex, but you don't want to add complexity in how you manage them. It's a myth that the more complex the plan and monitoring, the less chance there will be for errors and problems to occur. You can apply effective strategies that will help you monitor progress well. In this lesson, you will explore ways to use monitoring strategies to keep on top of work progress without creating a climate of fear. You will learn ways to make it easy for people to bring you bad news early and hard for people to bring bad news late. You will look for ways to remove confusion, apathy, and reluctance to discuss issues by fostering a non-punitive atmosphere, and examine ways to use the recommended "Half-the-Time Remaining Rule" for scope expansion. You will also explore what it means to be on the back side of a power curve, and examine tactics for dealing with that.
