Course Description

There are standard practices in the field of project management that relate to quality issues, delays, schedule control, and so on, and there are many high-quality tools in common use that help people manage those aspects of projects. Such practices and tools will vary between industries; for example, construction project managers might apply different tools and processes than a website development manager or a school principal directing a special project. But dealing only with the problems of complex project work is not leadership; it's performing triage. Here, our focus is on moving beyond the standardized tools and charts to the human element of project leadership: by breaking down barriers between pockets of workers, teams, and stakeholders and making sure that people are working collaboratively toward shared goals. In this lesson, you will have a chance to examine the nuances of monitoring projects well, and to look at some positive questions you can ask team members to further conversations. You will also access a tool that can help you run meetings more effectively.
