Course Description

Plants use photosynthetic active radiation (PAR) for photosynthesis, meaning different wavelengths of light can influence hemp plant growth differently. Hemp is a photoperiodic plant that flowers in response to day length. Temperature can also affect hemp plant productivity, yield, and quality of the final products. All of these factors must be carefully considered and adjusted to encourage quality hemp plant growth. In this lesson, you will review a variety of factors that you may manipulate to help your hemp plants meet agricultural goals. You will examine how to optimize light sources in indoor cultivation as well as how understanding the photoperiod for hemp is crucial for maximizing yields. Lastly, you will identify additional environmental factors to keep an eye on, such as carbon dioxide (CO2) concentrations and temperature.

Benefits to the Learner

  • Explore how lighting can impact you hemp production operations
  • Consider the best temperature range to produce high quality hemp product
  • Examine how carbon dioxide and water can impact your growth operations
