Course Description

You have studied suggestions of dietary choices that can help with a series of specific pathologies. Yet most people don’t wake up every day with cancer, osteoporosis, hypertension, diabetes, atherosclerosis, etc. So what should an average, healthy person eat to live the longest, healthiest life possible? Making dietary decisions can be complex — and can feel overwhelming — but there are some simple rules to follow if you want to improve your health. In this lesson, you will analyze the various models that the U.S. government has used to describe nutritional guidelines in recent history as well as the evolutions from each to the next. You will also examine additional nutrition models, including Professor Levitsky's 3 Rules of Good Nutrition, and you will determine what plan to follow for optimal health. For the best result, complete four previous lessons in the How Nutrition Affects Cancer, Osteoporosis, and Hypertension series: Growth of Cancer, Nutrients and Bone Health, Minimizing the Risk of Cancer, and Management of High Blood Pressure, prior to taking this lesson.
