Course Description

Sustainability is a long-term strategy that encourages businesses to consider future benefits, not just short-term profit. While supply chain sustainability is a topic of ongoing discussion, in this lesson, you will find out about some of the principles that help businesses prepare for the future. For example, some companies have adopted the notion of a so-called “triple bottom line,” where sustainability is achieved through balancing social, environmental, and economic needs (i.e., “people, planet, and profit”). In this lesson, you will have the opportunity to think about sustainability as it relates to supply chain management. You will then examine how supply chains interact with social and environmental contexts and, finally, consider how to nudge individual behavior toward more sustainable habits. For the best result, complete "Employ a Holistic Approach to Supply Chain Design: Measure and Improve Supply Chain Cash Flow Efficiency" and "Employ a Holistic Approach to Supply Chain Design: Design a Strategy to Achieve Supply Chain Coordination" prior to taking this lesson.
