Course Description

Individual employees value the elements of their total rewards packages differently. One worker may be willing to take a cut in pay for a more relaxed work environment and a shorter commute, while another employee at the same organization may be frustrated by a lack of professional growth opportunities. Some employees will appreciate family-friendly policies, while others might not care about them at all. How can an employer know what employees want, and how can they maintain a sense of fairness within the rewards they provide? In this lesson, you will apply theories about motivation and fairness from the social sciences to consider how members of the workforce perceive their roles in the workplace. Having a foundational understanding of the research on how people want to be treated is important when you are managing a total rewards system.
