Course Description

Selecting for multiple traits can be complicated. Traits that may be associated with improved yield, quality, or cost of production may be negatively correlated with unwanted traits. Furthermore, not all traits can be easily evaluated; for this reason, it is sometimes necessary to find traits that are indirectly correlated with the trait you want. Developing breeding schemes that include strategies for the selection of multiple traits is key for successful hemp breeding.
In this lesson, you will examine the different methods for selecting for multiple traits, including tandem selection, threshold selection, and using a selection index in relation to specific hemp breeding schemes.

For the best experience, first complete the previous lessons "Hemp Breeding and Selection: Develop a Breeding Plan" and "Hemp Breeding and Selection: Choose a Breeding Selection Scheme."
