Course Description

The first step in the plant breeding process is to develop a breeding plan. Important factors to consider when developing a breeding plan include your vision of the perfect plant or ideotype, the end use of your crop, the crop mating system, the environment in which the crop will be grown, and your available resources. 
In this lesson, you will analyze the benefits and drawbacks of different breeding methods for hemp. You will also examine how the environment impacts the genetics of hemp then use this information to help you design field trials. Finally, you will investigate production methods for different end uses of hemp.
