Course Description

In this lesson, you will take a close look at report writing by reviewing three different types of reports: memos, formal reports, and reading decks. You'll investigate when it is appropriate to use each type and, more specifically, how you can use reports effectively. You'll also examine the different parts of a reading deck, discover how to design slides, and review best practices. This lesson expands on concepts explored in the Business and Management Writing series: Introduction to Reading and Writing in the Workplace, Apply Recommended Document Design Principles, Organize Your Message Using the Appropriate Structure, and Manage Your Style. For the best experience, first complete the Business and Management Writing series, then complete all three lessons in the Advanced Business Writing series in order: Adapt to the Communication Situation, Create an Executive Summary, and Shape Your Message, then complete the first lesson in this series: Communicating Quantitative Data: Communicate About Data Effectively.
