Course Description

In this lesson, you will delve into knowledge-based AI technologies and determine why knowledge-centered approaches play a critical role in AI search strategies. You will also identify why search alone cannot work for AI agents. You will explore the key differences between implicit and explicit knowledge and consider why this has implications for creating effective knowledge-based AI systems. In addition, you will investigate how IBM's Watson AI system triumphed over the reigning world champion in "Jeopardy!" as well as why Watson could not replicate this success in the healthcare arena. You will also examine semantic networks, which are often used to represent knowledge in AI.
