Course Description

Sometimes, the candidate selection decision may be extremely clear based on one particular candidate outperforming others on all necessary role-related skills and qualities. Other times, you may be presented with a decision between two or more candidates that appear to be equal — and the decision among two or more equivalent candidates is a powerful part of a DEI-centered hiring process. Ambiguous decisions leave room for hiring professionals to inadvertently let bias or stereotyping influence their evaluations. Developing inclusive approaches to candidate selection will ensure that bias is mitigated during this pivotal decision. In this lesson, you will explore the elements of the candidate selection process, particularly decision making. You will examine how representation and composition impact candidate selection, and you will consider the importance of accountability as well as how to navigate ambiguous decisions. You'll conclude this lesson by clarifying solutions for making candidate selection decisions inclusively.
