Course Description

From the perspective of consumers, inventory management often goes unnoticed until it stops working. Managers, however, think about it regularly: "Is there enough so customers find what they want when they want it? On the other hand, how much am I spending holding onto this stock, and what happens if the stock goes bad or becomes irrelevant before I can sell it?" In this lesson, you will explore metrics used to help make inventory management decisions. You will investigate in-stock rate and fill rate as measures of the performance of an inventory strategy. You will also identify the effects of turnover and product life cycle on inventory decisions. Using provided data, you will first practice calculating these metrics, then use them to make recommendations on an inventory management strategy.
