Course Description

Once you have your thesis or topic statement defined and a few main points identified, you may be tempted to start writing. Yet there is another critical step before you start writing: building your argument. In this lesson, you transition from identifying a few main points to include in your content to defining a strong outline that will yield a supported and well-reasoned argument. You will examine components of an outline that will enable you to easily write material that is both supported by evidence and persuasive. In addition, you will review some of the common mistakes writers make when writing a persuasive argument so you can avoid them. You will also consider how to identify content that will engage your readers and make your material meaningful to them.
