Course Description

Persuasive analysis is sometimes referred to as an argumentative essay because it presents a topic, makes a claim about it, and backs up the specific stance with evidence. This type of content is often used for a policy proposal, an evaluation, or a cause-and-effect statement; it can take a stance on a topic or provide an interpretation. It can also be more narrow, such as a proposal for a new product, a memo introducing a new policy, or an email advocating a specific decision. Regardless of the intended purpose, the first step in writing persuasive content is establishing a sound foundation. In this lesson, you will explore how to set up effective persuasive content, examine the role of introductory thesis statements, and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of several proposed introductory statements.
