Course Description

For the purposes of this lesson, Germany Area III consists of Baden, Franken, Württemberg, Saale-Unstrut, and Sachsen.

These wine regions are geographically dispersed throughout Germany and have different climatic influences. Because of the climate variations in these regions, they produce a wide range of wine styles. In this lesson, you will explore these styles, along with several different wine varietals and their various expressions, from the south-southwest and eastern parts of the country. For the best experience, take "Foundations of German and Austrian Wines: Introduction to the Wines of Germany and Austria" prior to taking this lesson.

Important: "Area" is not a term used in the German wine industry. It is used to provide structure to the lesson.
