Course Description

For the purpose of this lesson, Germany Area II consists of the Rheinhessen, Nahe, Pfalz, and Hessische Bergstrasse wine regions.

Your German wine journey continues in this lesson with exploring wine regions featuring topographic variety. Some regions have rolling hills; some have rivers or forests; and some have flat, open lands. With such a variety in terrain, it may not surprise you that there is a range of varietals to consider. As you proceed, think about which region you would like to target for further study. For the best experience, take "Foundations of German and Austrian Wines: Introduction to the Wines of Germany and Austria" prior to taking this lesson.

Important: "Area" is not a term used in the German wine industry. It is used here to provide structure to the lesson.
