Course Description

Think of a time you've been asked to give money as well as a time you actually did give money to a nonprofit. Now reflect on what made the difference between the organization you were asked to give to and the organization to which you actually donated. One of these organizations did a good job connecting with you and helping you see how your donation toward the mission would have an impact on others and offer you some sense of fulfillment. Creating that feeling and connection is what makes some organizations so much more effective than others. In this lesson, you will focus on the fundamentals of fundraising, including theories that you can use to reach the people who are likely to give to your organization. Since one of the most common forms of revenue generation for nonprofits is fundraising, it is critical that you understand not only the basics but also the mechanics. This lesson further delves into what you need to do once you land a gift.
