Course Description

Though there are various forms of applied research, in this lesson, you will explore three in particular: social action research, community-based participatory research, and participatory action research. You will also examine the principles of an ideal action research process as well as the importance of defining your research goals, and you will consider the role of ethics in community research projects. In the final activity at the end of this lesson, you will select a research topic, frame the problem, and ask an effective research question. As you move through this lesson, keep in mind that the goal of social action research is to inform action that results in social change.
