Course Description

Whether you intended to commit a crime will have a great impact on whether you might be convicted of that crime. This lesson will examine the role of “mental states” in criminal law. You will identify mental state terms found in statutes and practice reading them carefully. You will also review the manner in which mental states, in combination with other elements, are necessary to secure convictions. Finally, you will explore the legal consequences of not acting on your suspicions of criminal activity.
