Course Description

You may want to be more involved in creating equitable change than you already are. From personal emotions to economic struggles, many things can keep a person from engaging in collective action.

In this lesson, you will identify and prepare to confront the forces that sometimes intentionally disempower ordinary people. You will describe examples of disempowerment and division. You will then reflect on the beliefs, emotions, and barriers that can keep people from getting involved and what can be done to address them.

Benefits to the Learner

  • Discover how disempowerment and division are sometimes created "by design"
  • Explore the circumstances and emotions that can prevent people from getting involved
  • Examine strategies to counter those circumstances and emotions
