Course Description

You may have an envisioned change that you hope to achieve to solve a racial, economic, social, or environmental issue within your community, but how do you avoid wandering aimlessly toward that goal? The steps involved in the theory of change process will generate an outcome map that will aid in keeping you on the path to change. In this lesson, you will examine a visualization that is used as a tool to map the interrelationship between types of power and the scale of change to which individuals or institutions are willing to commit. You will explore the five steps of developing a theory of change. You will distinguish between transactional and transformational change and see how often these two types of change are intertwined. Finally, you will examine a case study of an organization that used a theory of change to reach a desired outcome.
