Course Description

AREA is a decision-making system created to help you control for and counter cognitive biases so that you can expand your knowledge while improving your judgment. It does this, in part, through its construction as a perspective-taking system. In this lesson, you'll explore the phases of AREA and consider how the framework that AREA provides can help you solve problems in a systematic way. A critical feature of this framework is using perspective-taking strategies to control for and counteract bias. For the best experience, complete all three lessons in the Framing and Breaking Down Complex Problems series in order: Identify Your Big Problem and Control for Bias, Use Inversion to Frame Your Complex Problem, and Begin to Break Down the Problem From the Perspective of Your Absolute Targets.
