Course Description

In this lesson, you will examine a key barrier to transparency: suppliers failing to disclose information about working conditions in their own factories. You will also investigate why corporate social responsibility departments do not examine auditing data on their own supply chain. In addition, you will look at how multi-stakeholder institutions (MSIs), such as the Fair Labor Association (FLA), could improve transparency in private regulation data by collecting and analyzing data from member companies and sharing best practices with corporations and suppliers. Transparency and traceability are key issues, and you will identify ways of making behavior visible to the consumer. You will discover how creating transparency and reliability in audit data and strengthening audit standards could lead to best practices in labor standards across the global supply chain.
