Course Description

How you communicate matters just as much — maybe more — than what you communicate. It's therefore important to be mindful in your communication in order to build rapport and establish trust with your client. Consciously think about the message you want to convey, then communicate. It's equally key to interpret the message of your client correctly. As you draw a hypothesis on points your client makes, verify or alter your understanding as you gather more information. Client-directed counseling can help you with this. In this lesson, you will compare and contrast traditional counseling with client-directed counseling. As you differentiate between these, pay particular attention to the phrasing that is used, then assess the impact on client sessions.
