Course Description

Businesses — especially transnational corporations – can negatively and indirectly impact human rights across borders without realizing they are doing so. While there are national laws and regulations that require business organizations to respect human rights in their activities, there is a need for regulation of business organizations at the international level. In this lesson, you will examine why regulations are needed at the international level to protect human rights, the development of the international human rights framework, and the specific types of human rights that businesses should respect. You will also discover how your organization can be sued for human rights violations taking place abroad from your company headquarters.
