Course Description

Countries around the world have two primary methods for regulating labor standards: They can enact national laws or, more commonly, they can attempt to link trade and labor standards through trade agreements. In this lesson, you will discover, however, that there is no universal agreement among nations about linking trade and labor standards. You will have an opportunity to investigate the reasons for this lack of consensus, and you will assess how trade agreements differ on labor. You will also read how economic and political unions such as the European Union can impose trade sanctions on trade partners who violate labor standards.
