Course Description

Prevention or treatment of cancer is a complex process. The variety of cancers and the different ways in which they arise and progress, means that there is no straightforward solution to this family of diseases. There may be some types of plants, however, that help the body to prevent cancer from developing in the first place. In this lesson, you will examine several plants that have been identified with these properties along with plants that may reduce the symptoms of cancer treatments. This lesson assumes you have knowledge of the basic safety implications of plant-based medicines explored in the "Historical Applications of Plant-Based Medicine" lessons "Examine the History of Ethnobotany," "Categorize Active Ingredients," "Use Plant-Based Medicine Safely," and "Become an Informed Consumer."
