Course Description

Whether or not a product or service is central to your core competencies will determine if you should make or buy it. The feasibility of making that product or providing that service in-house will also guide your decision. In this lesson, you will use a make-or-buy decision tree to evaluate the strategic value of a product or service and use that evaluation to determine whether you will make or buy the product. You will then run the product or service past any tactical considerations and weigh the feasibility of making the product in-house against the cost of buying it. You will apply the strategic and tactical implications to a case study and determine a practical make-or-buy decision. Finally, you will use the make-or-buy decision tree to identify variables that might affect your choice to make a product or service in-house or to outsource it.
