Course Description

Many of your legal obligations rely on precedents; that is, on previous decisions made by judges. This lesson will focus on precedents and how to apply earlier decisions to your case. You will reflect on the role of precedents and how they may help with your case. You will also review the scope of precedents and the hierarchy of the courts. Finally, you will review a scenario and apply your understanding of statutes, agencies, regulations, precedents, and settlement negotiations to explain the possible outcome of a hypothetical case to others.
