Course Description

Cost accounting and managerial accounting are just part of what's needed for a healthcare organization to operate efficiently. A well-crafted budget is an important planning and management tool that can also help an organization manage costs, plan hiring and purchasing decisions, and take early and appropriate action if actual numbers are different than what was expected. In this lesson, you will look at several types of budgets, with particular focus on an operating budget, and examine two common approaches to budgeting ("top down" and "bottom up"). You will also consider how to handle utilities and other fixed costs, identify a budgeting approach for a specific organization, and develop budget estimates.
