Course Description

Your professional practice doesn't exist in a vacuum. To survive and thrive, you need to be aware of who and what can threaten the stability of your organization. How can you analyze your industry, your group's key skills, and the success factors you'll need to remain competitive in your area? Start by using a well-known market analysis tool called Porter’s Five Forces, which was developed by Michael Porter at the Harvard Business School. In this lesson, you will utilize Porter's Five Forces framework to take external forces into consideration during your strategic planning process. You'll apply this framework to a fictional healthcare scenario and read about how it applies to past and present events in healthcare, such as the case between EpiPen and the Department of Internal Medicine. You'll complete the lesson by building a strategic framework.
