Course Description

It may seem like a common-sense idea, but interaction design is pointless without the interaction. Once you have explored the design space through sketching the interface and storyboards to develop a design concept, you need to realize the interactivity of interface functions. This is why you create a paper prototype that allows users to interact with the interface. In this lesson, you will explore why you need prototyping to begin implementation of your interaction design and how to apply filtering and implementation decisions to build a prototype more effectively and efficiently. You will then examine and practice the techniques of using paper and other supplies to physically build an interactive prototype of a user interface, and you will determine strategies for gathering user feedback on your paper prototype. Finally, you will create your own paper prototype for the design concept of your project.

Benefits to the Learner

  • Explore the importance of prototyping
