Course Description

Conceiving a design is initially about crafting the perspective of the user around the product — understanding what they need to achieve and how the product is involved toward that goal. But what about how the user will actually navigate through the system to achieve those goals? User interface (UI) design is when we create a visual representation of the user interface with which the user will interact to successfully complete tasks. In this lesson, you will develop simple approaches for sketching a user interface. You will explore some basic concepts in information architecture to aid your placement of content in the UI. You will also examine how to lay out screen elements, and you will be provided with a tool to guide you in sketching these elements. You will then consider how to use these methods to redesign a website. Finally, you'll pull from all of this information to develop the user interface for your design concept.
