Course Description

Prior to the design phase, you have been creating this theoretical picture of what your users desire within the design space. Once you move to the design stage, you will switch from trying to understand what users need to generating ideas that respond to those needs. You start this process by simply sketching those ideas on paper — and you do not need to be an expert sketcher. In this lesson, you will acquire the basic skills for how to effectively convey your ideas as sketches on paper. You will go step by step through the components of sketching, from basic elements to displaying full interactions. You will then break down the different views and angles you can use to depict the user and their use of the product being designed. You will also apply some of these methods with some practice activities for sketching techniques. Finally, you will sketch your ideas to help you explore the design space in order to be able to later identify a single design idea and create a design concept.
