Course Description

Interviews with the user group can provide data that help guide the design process. But in order to ensure the best results, these interviews need to be well planned. In this lesson, you will develop skills for planning interviews by first defining the goals of the interview. You'll discover how to recruit users and create the recruitment message. You will also consider ethical guidelines and how to make sure you have informed consent from your participants; a useful tool is included that can help you obtain informed consent in the future. Additionally, you will examine best practices for choosing an interview location and identify the various data collection techniques you may use. This lesson assumes you have knowledge of the essentials of human-centered design explored in these "Human-Centered Design Essentials" lessons: "What Is HCI?," "The Human-Centered Design Mindset," "Measure Usability and Assess User Experience," and "The Stages of the Human-Centered Design Process."
