Course Description

User-generated content, or UGC, is a dynamic social marketing tool. Seeing photos, reading reviews, and witnessing experiences of real customers creates an authentic message for current and potential consumers. Brand leaders often think of UGC as random, one-shot posts. Savvy marketers, however, know that brands can and should motivate their online communities to create and share specific UGC to help the brand attain marketing objectives. In this lesson, you will evaluate different types of user-generated content and examine how brands can encourage UGC through funnel-based social marketing campaigns and social media contests and challenges. Through the assessment of two UGC campaign case studies, you will gain access to the strategic thinking behind running successful social contests. You will then consider how companies can leverage social contests to support specific marketing objectives and analyze industry best practices for encouraging and obtaining high-performing UGC.
