Course Description

Companies ultimately answer to many different people and groups; these can be loosely categorized as those who have a financial stake in a company (shareholders), those who directly interact with that business (stakeholders), or the wider social world that may not interact directly with a company but is nevertheless impacted by its decisions. In this lesson, you will distinguish among several different kinds of value: stakeholder, shareholder, and social. Additionally, you will define the concept of corporate social responsibility and examine two ways that organizations today are engaging with broader issues of social responsibility: by measuring their bottom line differently and by adding corporate responsibility to their charters to force accountability.
