Course Description

Anti-discrimination laws change rapidly to respond to and reflect evolving social norms, so you need to stay aware of these shifts in order to avoid discriminatory behaviors in your organization. In this lesson, you will look at the origins of today’s anti-discrimination laws and explore the foundational concepts of disparate treatment, disparate impact, and reasonable accommodation. You'll examine the distinctions among types of sex discrimination, including gender nonconformity, sexual orientation, and the so-called “sex plus” cases. Finally, this lesson will address affirmative action plans; you will investigate when an organization needs one and what it should contain.

Benefits to the Learner
