Course Description

The transition to college is full of both new opportunities and distinct challenges for first-year students. In this workshop, you will explore some of the main obstacles to achieving academic success that are faced by many of today's college students, and you will examine how to use evidence-based strategies that can help students take control of their learning. Through a variety of teaching techniques, you will assess materials designed to help students understand both how well their current learning styles and techniques have prepared them to excel in college and how to make any necessary adjustments. By the end of the workshop, you will be ready to develop and lead your own course on study strategies. You will have numerous ready-to-adapt tools that you can implement into the course as well.
