Course Description

Traditional counseling sets you up as an expert to provide answers and does not necessarily recognize that your client may have the answers or the ability to direct their own path. Client-directed counseling establishes you and your client as partners. In this lesson, you examine the benefits of client-directed counseling. You also explore Rogerian theory and how it can be applied to sessions with clients.

Benefits to the Learner

  • Examine how to shift accountability to the client
  • Explore contexts where you can work with the client as a partner
